The Rappahannock Wreath
The Rappahannock oyster wreath, hand-crafted by Ashley E. Smith. 2024.
Oysters originally sourced from:
Chincoteague Island, Virginia- “Sea Stone”, Medium Cup, Medium-High Salinity
Rappahannock, Virginia- “Rogue River Dragons”, Large Cup, Low Salinity
Onancock, Virginia- “Back Creek Beauties”, Medium Cup, Medium Salinity
for Whiskey and Oyster in Alexandria, Virginia.
“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”
-Ernest Hemmingway
**A huge thank you to the staff at Whiskey & Oyster, for their time and effort collecting the shells that were re-purposed for Gryffin’s collection.
